Bought with a Price

If you came here from Luke Gilkerson’s excellent Breaking Free blog, hosted by Covenant Eyes, then you might feel like you are caught in an infinite loop. I got the privilege of being a guest blogger there today, with a piece inspired by Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s The Cost of Discipleship. Check it out here.

Now for the news for those of you who came here from there, or were looking for something different.

I had announced earlier this year that I was working on a book, called Bought with a Price. I have re-titled the book and am calling it Porn Free: Finding Renewal through Truth and Community. I’m in the editing and design process before publishing, and will have a sample chapter or two available in the next few weeks on a new web site – pornfreebook.com.

If you want to go deeper with God in seeking your sexual integrity, come out to the next class in Columbus, Ohio, at Xenos Christian Fellowship. Sexual Integrity for Men is a 10 week course for men who are seeking freedom from pornography, fantasy and masturbation. For more information about the course, see the Resource section on this site. For those in the Columbus area, the fall quarter Sexual Integrity for Men class is starting on Sept. 23rd. This class will help to equip you in dealing with the temptations of pornography, and following Jesus in obedience to His call for sexual purity, and lead you to a healthier, God-honoring, fulfilling sexuality.

The class is 10 weeks long, and takes place Wednesday nights from 7-9 PM, and includes both lecture and discussion groups where you can practice confession and find accountability. You can register for this class at the Xenos web site. Cost for the class is only $10 for adults and students.

The focus of this class is not on controlling lust or psychological techniques, but on the life-changing power of the gospel in our lives (2 Pet 1:3-4).

Why not start off the Fall with a new commitment to take a stand against the world, the flesh, and the devil, and walk in the light with other like-minded brothers?

If you are using the Mac version of Covenant Eyes and upgrade to Apple’s newest operating system, called Snow Leopard, be advised that Covenant Eyes will crash upon startup. All you have to do is download the latest client from Covenant Eyes, install it afresh, and you will be back in business with the best Internet accountability software.
